Below is an explanation of the topics that will be covered at YLC 2 (March 6). If you attend all the hour long workshops at YLC 2 you will receive your certification for the Youth Leadership Basic Award. The Basic Award is a level one course for youth and members of a youth team.
- ISSUES IN YOUTH & TEEN WORK – An introduction to youth work and the issues it faces.
- COMMUNITY OUTREACH MINISTRY – An introductory course for every leader who seeks to engage their community in new, innovative and also traditional forms of ministering to those that are the closest to your church.
- STRUCTURING, PLANNING & ORGANISING YOUTH WORK - How the youth department and its elements fit, from the worldwide church to the local AY Department.
- STAFFING YOUTH AND TEEN LEADERSHIP – Having a successful AY Society is based upon the correct organization of those that work with you and for the youth department. this course helps you knkw the elements of a good and successful team.
- COMMUNICATION SKILLS 101 – The art of communicating what you have…
- MENTORING – A leader of youth is firstly a mentor to those you serve, this course helps you to know the basics of being a good role model and mentor to those in your church and community.
- CREATIVE WORSHIPS AND RESOURCES 101 – Understand, plan, and study the area of creative worship that brings your youth into a closer relationship with Jesus and help your AY not to become stagnant.
- INTRODUCTION OF ADVENTIST THOUGHT- This course gives the youth leader a foundational understanding in the beliefs and the mindset of Adventism. This course is a must for all youth/team leaders.
Level 2 Teen/Youth Leadership Training
Below is an explanation of the topics that will be covered at YLC 3 (September 17 & 18) & YLC 4 (November 27). To complete you will need to attend all workshops in YLC 3 & YLC 4 as well as being active within your local church. To see the curriculum requirements please see the YLA booklet. There is no time limit and you can do the course over two years if you choose.
